Kawanabe Hiwari

Family

Kawanabe Kanetsu
- Hiwari's older brother (Vizard)
- An easy going, yet very responsible and loyal young man who's a bit overprotective of his sister. He was lieutnant of 6th division, but had to escape from Soul Society after becoming a Vizard. His family doesn't know about this and so he's been considered missing ever since.

Riyama Minariko
- Adoptive aunt of Hiwari and Kanetsu (civilian)
- A loving and tender-hearted woman. She took Kanetsu and Hiwari in when they were still a kid and an infant. She is usually called Mina-obachan (aunty Mina) by her two fosterlings.

Habusaki Mana
- Hiwari's academy friend (Shinigami)
- Best friend of Umeno. A bubbly and clumsy, but very intelligent girl. Joined the Gotei 13 after graduation and is now 14th seat of 13th division.

Kado Umeno
- Hiwari's academy friend (Shinigami)
- Best friend of Mana. A responsible, serious girl and the epitome of patience. Joined the Kido Corps after graduation.

- A companionable, optimistic but extremely indecisive girl. Became a Shinigami after her brother vanished without a trace and worked her way up to 3rd seat of 6th division.

Kisono Sawara
- Kanetsu's academy friend (Shinigami)
- The twin sister of Hinoki and Kanetsu's crush during their teen years. A straightforward and loyal girl. 2 Minutes older than her brother. Became an unseated officer in 9th division after graduation, but worked her way up to 8th during the last 100 years.

Kisono Hinoki
- Kanetsu's academy friend (Shinigami)
- The 2 minutes younger twin brother of Sawara and best friend of Kanetsu. A lazy young man who always takes things easy. Almost failed the Academy because of this attitude. Became an unseated officer in 6th division togheter with Kanetsu after graduation. Was transferred to become 19th seat of 8th division a few decades later and is still in this position.

Yameguchi Tomaru
- Kanetsu's Academy Friend (Shinigami)
- A nerdy boy who always had the best grades, but didn't get along with anyone else except Kanetsu, Hinoki and Sawara. He used to always scold Hinoki for his poor perfomances and tried to give him tutoring lessons, but gave up after realizing that Hinoki didn't really care. Joined the 12th division after graduation and became their 6th seat.

Oku Tsuruka

- Tsuruka's father (civilian/owner of a dango-shop)
- An imperturbable and friendly man. He's very proud of his daughter.

Oku Meyuki
- Tsuruka's mother (civilian/housewife)
- A nervous woman who's always worried. Unlike her husband she strongly dislikes that her daugher is a Shinigami since she's always afraid that she might get killed during the next mission.

Oku Kumikuru
- Tsuruka's grandmother (former Shinigami)
- An old lady and former Shinigami. She retired after her son was born. She's also very proud of her granddaughter and helped Tsuruka a lot during first years as a Shinigami.

Wakaba Ryoki
- Tsuruka's Childhood friend (Shinigami)
- Her next door neighbour, a smart boy who used to play with Tsuruka when they were children and also has a crush on her ever since then. He attended the Spiritual Arts Academy with her, but instead of joining a division after graduation he stayed at the academy and became a Zanjutsu teacher.

- Fifth born child. Sweet and bubbly.

Shiragawa Souga (civilian/deceased)
- Member of Shinobu's group & his best friend
- A courageous young man who was just as hot-headed as Shinobu. They didn't often agree over something which often lead to fights between them, but strangely enough they became closest out of the whole group despite all their fighting. Lost his parents, brother and home in a fire.

Hamabe Miki (civilian/deceased)
- Member of Shinobu's group
- The youngest out of them, he was a suave boy who wouldn't have survived on the streets that long withouth the support of the others. He got scared easily. His parents were killed by bandits.

Maguchi Natsuru (civilian/deceased)
- Member of Shinobu's group
- A crafty and mischievous young boy who enjoyed pulling people's legs. Also got thrown out of his parental home like Shinobu.

Ue Kenzo (civilian/deceased)
- Member of Shinobu's group
- A big, composed guy. He's the one who always kept the group togheter when there were any dissensions. Never had a family to begin with.

- Kiyo's father (noble/22nd head of the Yashima family)
- A strict man who values traditions.

Yashima Yurine
-Kiyo's mother (noble)
- A gentle woman who loves her children, but who is also totally obedient to her husband's wishes.

Yashima Gōzo
- Kiyo's oldest brother (noble)
- The oldest child and future heir of the Yashima family. Very responsible and mature and his father's pride and joy. He's married to the daughter of another minor noble family.

Yashima Naeko
- Kiyo's oldest sister (noble)
- She's the second born child, a self-confident and extremely bright girl. She can't stand seeing other people suffer and gladly helps those in need.

Yashima Chiumi
- Kiyo's younger sister (noble)
- The third born of the family. She's a very pretty and graceful young lady, but also shy and reserved and dislikes being around other people. She's engaged with the son of another minor noble house.

Yashima Shinsuke
- Kiyo's older brother (noble)
- The fourth born child, an energetic young man with an happy-go-lucky attitude. He dislikes conflict, but enjoys the company of pretty girls.

- Kiyo's childhood friend (civilian)
- A cheeky boy who was part of the group of children Kiyo used to play with when she snuck out of her parent's mansion as a kid. He considered himself the 'leader' and often got into fights with others.

Touhiyu Amana
- one of the Yashima family's housemaids/Kiyo's nanny (civilian)
- A cheerful young girl who used to look after Kiyo. She was always a bit uneasy about Kiyo's trips to the streets of Rukongai, but since she knew how happy it made her she always backed her.
